چکیده

We analyze the general Lévy insurance risk process for Lévy measures in the convolution equivalence class S(α), α > 0, via a new kind of path decomposition. This yields a very general functional limit theorem as the initial reserve level u → ∞, and a host of new results for functionals of interest in insurance risk. Particular emphasis is placed on the time to ruin, which is shown to have a proper limiting distribution, as u → ∞, conditional on ruin occurring under our assumptions. Existing asymptotic results under the S(α) assumption are synthesized and extended, and proofs are much simplified, by comparison with previous methods specific to the convolution equivalence analyses. Additionally, limiting expressions for penalty functions of the type introduced into actuarial mathematics by Gerber and Shiu are derived as straightforward applications of our main results.

On Extreme Ruinous Behaviour of Lévy Insurance Risk Processes

In this short note we show how new fluctuation identities and their associated asymptotics given in Vigon (2002), Klüppelberg et al. (2004) and Doney and Kyprianou (2006) provide the basis for establishing, in an elementary way, asymptotic overshoot and undershoot distribitions for a general class of Lévy insurance risk processes. The results bring the earlier conclusions of Asmussen and Klüppe...

Sample path behavior of a Lévy insurance risk process approaching ruin, under the Cramér-Lundberg and convolution equivalent conditions

Recent studies have demonstrated an interesting connection between the asymptotic behavior at ruin of a Lévy insurance risk process under the Cramér-Lundberg and convolution equivalent conditions. For example the limiting distributions of the overshoot and the undershoot are strikingly similar in these two settings. This is somewhat surprising since the global sample path behavior of the proces...

Process of Risk Analysis for Iranian Insurance Companies

The main challenge for any insurer/reinsurer has proved to be underwriting major refinery/Petrochemical risk. Insurers have already considered process risk management measures while accepting and evaluating the risks all over the world. Erstwhile petrochemical tariff was adopting experiencing methodology as basis for premium calculation in Iran. In the present de-tariff scenario decisions will ...

Investigating the risk-taking behavior of the banking industry in the form of the general equilibrium model of overlapping generations (OLG)

In this paper, using a general equilibrium model of overlapping generations, the impact of different financing plans of the banking industry on their risk-taking motivation is investigated. In the non-competitive banking industry, financing is done by imposing taxes on the older generation or the bankchr('39')s internal resources (bank shares). As an effective policy, this action optimizes soci...

Asymptotic distributions of the overshoot and undershoots for the Lévy insurance risk process in the Cramér and convolution equivalent cases

Recent models of the insurance risk process use a Lévy process to generalise the traditional Cramér–Lundberg compound Poisson model. This paper is concerned with the behaviour of the distributions of the overshoot and undershoots of a high level, for a Lévy process which drifts to −∞ and satisfies a Cramér or a convolution equivalent condition. We derive these asymptotics underminimal conditions...
